Who we are
ReadAda is an AI-powered book intelligence platform. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use ReadAda, how we use it, and what rights you have over it. If you have questions, contact us at ada@readada.com.
What we collect
We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the platform:
- Usage data. Pages visited, search terms entered, and links clicked — collected via anonymised analytics to understand how the platform is used. We do not link this data to individual identities.
- Email address. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address to send you the ReadAda briefing. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Cookies. We use essential cookies to keep the site functioning and optional analytics cookies to measure traffic. See our Cookie Policy for details.
How we use your data
- To deliver the newsletter you signed up for
- To understand which parts of the platform are most useful and improve them
- To detect and prevent abuse or fraudulent activity
- To display advertising via Google AdSense — only if you have consented to advertising cookies
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. If you accept advertising cookies, Google AdSense may use your data to show you personalised ads. You can opt out at any time via our Cookie Settings page.
Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
- Newsletter delivery: Contract performance — you asked us to send you the newsletter.
- Advertising cookies (Google AdSense): Consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)) — AdSense is only loaded after you explicitly accept. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Security and abuse prevention: Legitimate interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
Third-party services
ReadAda uses the following third-party services. Each acts as a data processor or independent controller as described:
- Vercel — hosts the platform. Your IP address passes through Vercel's infrastructure for request routing. Vercel Privacy Policy.
- Supabase — stores platform data (book catalogue, reading lists, newsletter subscribers). Supabase Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic (Claude API) — powers Ada, ReadAda’s AI literary critic. Book descriptions and assessments are generated via Anthropic’s API. No personal user data is sent to Anthropic — only book metadata used to generate content. Anthropic Privacy Policy.
- Google AdSense — displays advertisements. If you accept advertising cookies, Google may process your data to serve personalised ads. Google acts as an independent data controller for its advertising operations. Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalised ads at adssettings.google.com.
- Affiliate links. Links to Amazon and Bookshop.org are affiliate links. Clicking them takes you to those platforms, which have their own privacy policies. ReadAda earns a commission on qualifying purchases.
Data retention
Newsletter email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe. Anonymised usage data is retained for up to 24 months. We do not retain any other personal data.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to delete your data
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email we send you
To exercise any of these rights, email ada@readada.com.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of ReadAda after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
