Maya Angelou

Maya Angelou (1928–2014) was an American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist. She is best known for her series of seven autobiographical volumes. She received dozens of honorary degrees and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011 by President Barack Obama.
