S.E. Hinton

S.E. Hinton (Susan Eloise Hinton) was born in 1948 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and published The Outsiders at the age of eighteen. She is widely credited with helping establish the young adult novel as a serious literary form. Her subsequent novels, including That Was Then, This Is Now and Rumble Fish, cemented her influence on the genre.
