Akwaeke Emezi is a Nigerian-born writer and artist whose work spans literary fiction, young adult novels, and memoir. They identify as ogbanje and non-binary, and their writing consistently explores spirituality, gender, and embodiment from a distinctly African cosmological perspective. Their debut Freshwater was widely acclaimed and named a best book of the year by numerous publications.
